Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 物理學系 === 85 === We try to understand the dynamical origin of OZI violation. The
earlier works including gluonic annihilation and meson
rescattering pictures are reviewed. With the rising value of the
vector glueball(O) mass, we find that a new viewpoint could be
taken: the smallness of $\phi-\omega$ mixing is related to the
heaviness of O! A difficulty arises with the sign of the $\phi-
\omega$ mixing fromthis model when comparing to experiments.
This is solved by redefining the $\phi_0$ state from $s\bar s
\rightarrow-s\bar s$ and modifying the mass matrix. We find that
Nature chooses this relative sign of $-s\bar s$ for $\phi$ as
compared to$\omega\cong(u\bar u+d\bar d)/\sqrt{2}$, if the O
dominance pictureis correct. There is a leftover problem with
$\rho-\omega$ mass difference, but no other mechanism seems to
give any appropriate solution. Perhaps it could be explained by
tuning of meson rescattering.
