Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 材料科學與工程學研究所 === 85 === Abstract PEO ( polyethylene oxide) / PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) blends were prepared by either casting from chloroform or benzene. The compability behavior of them was investigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarizing optical microscope (POM). Althought, it was not significant .It was shown from the DSC results that the crystallization of PEO was more easily supressed in the chloroform-cast blends than it was in the benzene-cast blends. Also, it was shown from the POM measurements that the spherulitic growth rate of PEO/PMMA blends casted from benzene was much greater than that casted from chloroform, especially in the blends of high PEO content (eg. 90/10 and 80/20). The number of nuclei in PEO/PMMA blends casted from benzene is always greater than that cast from chloroform in our examining range. Besides, it was found that the t1/2 of chloroform-cast blends was much greater than benzene-cast blends in isothermal crystallization and exhibited a more negative interaction parameter from Nishi-Wang equation. According to the mentioned above , chloroform seems to be a better solvent that can dissolve PEO/PMMA blends more homogeneous. keyword: PEO, PMMA, blends, solvent effect, miscibility
