Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立台北師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 85 === The study employs am interpretative method to explore the perception of Science learning environment of a sixth-graded Science class at an elementary school.Three questions were explored in this study :(1) what are Science andscience knowledge that sixth graders in the selected class are perceived? (2)what is the learning environment of Science class that sixth graders in the selected class are perceived? (3) what are the influence of external factorsfrom society which sixth graders in the selected class are perceived? By means of participation observation, focus group method, in-depth interviews, document review,semi-structured questionnaires and so on, the researcher uses herself as a tool to collect data in the research field in onesemester (from 85.8.30 to 86.1.7). Data were transcribed and reduced with 90incidents, which were evaporated into three parts. This study indicates that sixth graders associated the learning of Scienceand science knowledge with the concept of "scientist", but students are stillnot interested in learning Science in elementary school. Students have been learning Science for five years; therefore, they have their own judgment on teacher''s teaching. According to data collection the study acquires that classdiscipline affects the process of teaching interaction and teaching schedule.Class discipline is categorized into two parts: rules and procedures(" rules"are concentration in class, being quiet, not annoying others, joining class discussion, finishing homework, respecting teacher, bringing the necessity to class; "procedures" include the rite of kicking off a class, handraising, whichis procedure to express opinions in class, alternative procedure-- familiarityof different teaching rhythm and the ways to be safe in class.) Specificcategories are illustrated with data as a example. The failure of group study, lack of active attitude are mainly attributed to lacking of operating laboratory facilities. The assessment of Science class closely relates learning within school, reference books outside school and cram school. Under the influence of media and gender ideology ,boy and girl students are biased against Science class, which is revealed in interviews. Parent''s concern and emphasis on academic performance and the major subjects(Chinese, Mathematics) also influence the students'' perception of Science class. The study is to understand what sixth graders think and feel through understanding students'' perception of learning environment in Science class;moreover, based on the opinion "the student is the learning entity", a different perspective toward elementary school''s Science class is also providedin this study. Keywords: elementary Science class, learning environment, Science perception.
