These pieces were dedicated to musician Luigi Cherubini. The third sonata subtitled Didone abbandonata is the only instrumental composition of Clementi with a programmatic title supplied by the composer. There are four chapters in this thesis. The first chapter focuses on the historical background. The second chapter analyzes the musical structures of each movement. The third chapter discusses the interpretation of performance concentrate on dynamic, articulation, pedaling and tempo. The last chapter concludes with the characteristics of Opus 50. The musical style of these three sonatas contain from Baroque, Classic through the styles of Romantic. The canon writing which can be found frequent in the sonatas belongs to the Baroque period. The thin texture, continuously using of tonic and dominant, arpeggiated chords and ornamentations are the musical characteristics of the Classical period. Furthermore, the sonority of discord, chromatic progression, and cyclic form are the typical characters of the Romantic style. According to the music itself, these three sonatas have the most performing indications among Clementi's piano music. The metronome marks is the first time found in his music, and the dynamics and articulation markings are also use intensively.
