Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東技術學院 === 資訊管理技術研究所 === 85 === The purpose of this research is to investigate the factors that affect ba nking industry in determining the implementation of financial electronic data interchange(EDI). Out of fifty-five banks that finished the questionnaires, s eventeen are implementing financial EDI in their operations which include ten local banks and seven foreign branches. The results indicate that internal, e xternal, and business perceived requirements are three major dimensions with e leven variables that affect the use of financial EDI in the banking industry. There is a significant difference on external dimension between local and for eign banks. On the other hand, there is no statistical significance in terms of the variables that affect the use of financial EDI among banks. However , the size, and the length of the history of banks do have significant relatio nship with the use of financial EDI. Regarding the stages of implementing a f inancial EDI, there is no significant different between local and foreign bank s. The most important issues of a financial EDI, according to this survey, ar e (1) system security, (2) system reliability, and (3) system quality, in orde r.
