Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 英語教育研究所 === 85 === John Updike's Rabbit, Run catches many critics'attention in many ways. This thesis is about a re-reading of this novel in the light of the theory developed by Foucault, attemtping to use the discourse to investigate that people are tied to the power of the discourse. Through the relationships of power, body and knowledge, the "truth" only true to one's domain is gained. This thesis includes five chapters. Chapter One is a review of criticism of Rabbit, Run and states the applicability of the FoucauldianReading to Rabbit , Run. Chapter Two is an introduction of the Foucauldian theories. Chapter Three is to analyze how the body is tied to the conflict of power and "will to knowledge." Chapter Four is the description of "truth" out of the relationships of power, body and knowledge. Chapter Five concludes the thesis and justifies the adoption of Foucault to a re-reading of Rabbit, Run.
