effectiveness of schools for the mentally retarded in Taiwan. A
questionnaire developed in thisstudy was used to survey on 403
teachers, while 16 teachers accepted interviews. The
conclusions of this study are as follows: 1.There is no
significant difference in the teachers'' fellings toward school
effectiveness on account of their sexes,ages and job positions.
2.There are significant differences in the teachers'' fellings
toward school effectiveness on account of their school
departments, professional backgrounds and their service
years as special education teachers. 3.These teachers''
feelings toward school effectiveness are predictable,
basing on the facts of their service years as special education
teachers, ages and school departments. 4.Schools for the
mentally retarded have their effectiveness, but need to
be further improved.Key word:school effectiveness, schools for
