Examination of eye movements elicited by proper visual stimulus has been helpful for the clinical diagnoses as well as the medical studies of neuropathy. The pity is that commercial stimulation instruments available by now are too expensive and provide only few patterns which are not sufficient for medical researches because of the lack of flexibility.
Due to the affordability and availability of personal computers, we use them as working platforms to develop a complete stimulation and measuring instrument including three subsystems: stimulation pattern generator, eye-movement data acquisition system, and patient database management. Not only this instrument could work well in clinical uses, but also its notably flexible pattern generator contributes to the realization of more advanced studies in human visual and nervous system.
