Doctors dialog patients for the judgment of the disease, the way of curing, the process of dosage through direct or indirect communication media. Traditional medical consultation appointed the same time and location to complete common curing by communication media (for example: telephone). At the same time of computer network coming out and progress thrivingly, there were relative application of the telemedicine, and be in high of good repute, but it costs too much on setting up the telemedicine system and communication to prevail. According to this, this paper use popular personal computer as platform to design a synchronous medical consultation system with the same function as UNIX workstation to reduce the cost of setting up the medical consultation system largely. Besides it, see that the difference of doctors' working schedule, we also afford asynchronous medical consultation system module to transfer multimedia medical documents through e-mail fitting MIME type protocol, including the video of medical consultation doctors, voice, x-ray film, ultrasound image and electrocardiogram relating case history data, combined the post office protocol server and relative supporting software interface to operate medical consultation. Because PC is very convenient to doctor on medical consultation and reduce the cost of setting medical consultation system largely. Through the calling supporting by modem to let the doctors know that the consultation message arrived. Doctors can use notebook computer to browse and reply this message. The synchronous/asynchronous medical consultation system in this paper can let doctor immediately, whenever, wherever and conveniently handle the consultation system to improve the medical ocnsultation communication among doctor. The cost of setting which usual hospital or clinic can afford, it can also improve the connection of medical consultation.
