However, studies assessing multi-allergens simultaneously have not yet been adequate. This study examined a group of common indoor allergens at homes of asthmatic and healthy children in Taiwan to construct the pattern of their concentration distributions and for a comprehensive assessment of microbial exposure and their effects on respiratory outcomes of asthmatics.A representative group of asthmatic children (11-13 years old) from a typical metropolitan city of Taiwan was selected with a cross-sectional questionnaire survey. The healthy controls were matched by their age, gender, schools attending, and residence. Dust samples of the mattress were collected with standard vacuum (3 min/m2). After sieving and extract on, all samples were analyzed by different ELISA kits (Lymphocyte Culture Center, the University of Virginia) for various allergens. Health outcomes werMultivariate regression showed that the standard deviation of PFM values measured in the morning, afternoon, evening, and daily average of the 7 days and symptom scores of the subjects study were all positively associated with the Der p 2 concentration of the mattress. The degree of effect on respiratory health by exposure to Der p 2 allergens appeared to be stronger on the asthmatics than healthy children . The role of Der p 2 exposure affecting the respiratory symptoms of asthmatics appeared to be significant. In addition, the effect of allergens exposure on the outcomes of respiratory health seemed to be vary with the seasons.
