The atomizers made by Monarch co. with type F80#1.00 hollow cone spray are redesigned to fit our requirements. The orifices of them are 0.3mm in diameter but with different outlet taper an-gles 0, 60, 75, 90, and 105 degree individually. The results show that the atomizers with orifice taper angles 75 and 90 degree produce fine quality of sprays and their visible spray cone angles are 65 and 95 degree individually in lower injection pressure. But the other atomizers with orifice taper angles 0,60,and 90 degree produce poorquality of sprays and their visible spray cone angles are all under 40 degree. The spray qualities of all cases are improved with increasing in injection pressure, but the spray cone angles of atomizers with orifice taper angles 75 and 90 degree are still larger than the others. Comparing the spray quality, the SMD of the atomizer with orifice taper angle 90 de- gree is the lowest of all. These results show that the atomizer with proper orifice taper angle willproduce larger spray cone angle, smaller SMD, and better spray quality.Except swirler geometry,swirling chamber, and discharge orifice,the effects of orifice outlet geometry on sprays also play an important role in design-ing of pressure atomizer.
