propelledvegetable seedling transplanter. Modifications laid
emphasis on thereconstruction of power transmission system and
the cam for feedingvegetable seedlings. A hydraulic system was
applied to substitutethe conventional pulleys and sprockets.
Meanwhile, the cam profilewas evaluated and redesigned to have
the needle, which transportseedlings from trays to planting
device, perform smoothly.Experimental results showed that plant
spacing, which is 45.0 cmtheoretically, was between 45.2 to 46.7
cm in laboratory and 44.5 cm in average in the field, while
engine speed was between 600 and 1800rpm. Modified cam improved
the function of needle, and had thesuccess ratio of
transplantation increase to 90% or more from 44%.To improve this
vegetable seedling transplanter, more field treatmentswould be
needed.
