Description
Summary:碩士 === 高雄醫學院 === 護理學研究所 === 85 === The purpose of this research was to study the community adjustment of schizophrenic patients in relation to their demographic data, disease symptoms,self-concept and the social support. This research adopted purposive sampling, and obtained 101 cases from a psychiatric clinic of a district hospital in Southern Taiwan. The main research tools included the Positive Symptoms Scale﹑Negative Symptoms Scale and the Community Life Scale, which were party adopted from the Community Psychiatric Rating Scale, the Self-Concept Scale, and the Social Support Appraisal Scale. The data was analysed by factor analysis﹑independent-samples t test﹑one-way ANOVA﹑ Mann-Whitney U test ﹑Kruskal-Wallis H test﹑Pearson correlation ﹑Spearman correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The findings were as follows:(1). The community adjustment for the subjects were lower than the medium level.(2). Most of the subjects have had various degrees of symptoms; 60.3% positive symptoms, 89.1% negative symptoms.(3). The self-concept for the subjects were tend to be positive. The factor analysis, found the following three factors for the Self-Concept scale namely;「personal characteristics 」﹑「images」and 「personal value」. The personal value were most positively scored among the subjects.(4). The factor analysis for social support appraisal scale also found four factors namely;「sense of belonging」﹑「social recognition」﹑「linkage with friends 」﹑and「confidence in support」. The subjects responded most positively on the factor of the「sense of belonging」, which could interpreted as the caring and the attendance they received from the family.(5). Those patients who have an occupation, a spouse, who were older, whose onset was at an older age, whose symptoms were lighter, who had more positive self-concept, and who felt more social support, have had better community adjustment.(6). The significant predictors for the community adjustment were, according to the order of significance, negative symptoms﹑status of an occupation ﹑ social support﹑positive symptoms﹑and the age. They could explain 80.6% of the total variance.(7). If the disease factors being controled, the following important factors could predict the status of community adjustment; namely occupational status﹑social support﹑and the age. They could explain 51.3% of the total variance.
