level of quality of lifefor the patients with hepatocellular
carcinoma receiving transcatheter arterial chemoembolization .
The main thesis was concerned about demographics
,diseasecharacteristics , physical symptoms , emotion state ,
social support in relation withQOL . Sample were obtained by
purposive sampling , in one medical center of hepatology OPD ,
in Kaohsiung . Instruments included : (1) Quality of Life Index(
QLI)with five factors , namely ; health , environment ,
phychosocial , family and inimacy ,(2) Symptom Distress Scale
,(3) Emotion State Scale , and (4) Social Supportive Scale. The
sample consisted of 68 men and 15 women , ranging in age from 30
to 82years . The findings of the research included that (1) the
level of QOL for the hepatomapatients with T.A.C.E. were
moderate ,(2) the subjects showed slight negativeemotion state
,(3)their physical symptoms were slightly retarded ,(4) they
felt theyreceived medial level of social support ,and (5)
marriage staus had significantdifference in QOL . Emotion state
、physical symptom and social support had distinctrelation with
total QOL , i.e. when the patient had a spouse , his emotion was
more positive , physical symptom retardation was slight and the
QOL was better . Themore help he received from social support ,
the better QOL he obtained . The factors which could predict the
QOL were the following four factors : emotion state 、
physicalsymptom、 marriage status & social support .
