Summary: | 碩士 === 高雄醫學院 === 行為科學研究所 === 85 === The present study provides explanations for the relative
judgments of sizeand distance and related issues involving size
and distance perceptionin reduced conditions. Although some
assumptions of previous theoriesare discussed, other effects are
retained in our study. The purpose ofexperiment 1 was to access
the effects of object familiarity, convergenceor divergence and
instructions in relative judgments of size and
distancesimultaneously. The purpose of experiment 2 was to
access the effects ofobject familiarity, convergence or
divergence and instructions in relativejudgments of size and
distance independently. The effects of familiarityand
instructions in both experiment 1 and experiment 2 did not
affect theresult of the judge relationship of size and distance.
Convergence anddivergence can serve as a source of information
about size and distancejudgments in both experiments. The
results show that presenting targetssuccessively or
discontinuously may cause an inverse relation betweenrelative
judgements of perceived size and distance The vivid effects
showin the vergence changes to make the relative size and
distance judgments. The most important, neither size-distance
invariance hypothesis (SDIH) orsize-distance paradox (SDP) can
explain all the conditions in this study. Inparticular, the
present study states that the cognitive factors are
importantreferents in judging the relationship of size and
distance.
