Summary: | 碩士 === 中國醫藥學院 === 環境醫學研究所 === 85 === The objective of this study is to investigate the quality
of life (QOL) of the normal population in central Taiwan and to
estimate the quality-adjusted life year for the normal
population in Taiwan. We then use the same methodology to
investigate the quality of life and to estimate the loss of
quality-adjusted life year for the occupational injury patients
in Taiwan in 1995. The analysis are based on 3092 normal
subjects and 381 occupational injury patients in central Taiwan.
We mainly use the method of Rosser''s measures to discuss the
quality of life from three-dimensions such as disability,
discomfort and distress. And we incorporate the measures of
quality of life to survival analysis to estimate the quality-
adjusted life year. The result shows that on the average the
male has better quality of life than the female and the elder
people (especially for the age > 65) has poorer quality of life
than the younger people from all three dimensions. The
unadjusted life year for the male in Taiwan in 1994 is 71.83;
and for the female in Taiwan in 1994 is 77.82. After adjusted
for the quality of life, the QALY for the male is estimated to
be 66.94 and that for the female is 70.61. For the occupational
injured patients in Taiwan in 1995, the total loss of QALY is
estimated to be 7170.09. Male has higher incidence rate of
occupational injury than female. After the event of occupational
injury, the quality of life is no significant difference between
male and female.
