Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 資訊管理研究所 === 85 === The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between commercial banks and Asset Liability Management Systems in Taiwan. This study focused on three different dimensions to investigate why and when a bank would adopt an ALM system. The impact of adopting an ALM system was also investigated. A total of thirty Chief Information Officers of twenty-four banks were interviewed. A total of eleven ALM system users (high level managers) were also interviewed. Fifty percent of interviewed banks adopted ALM systems. Most of these banks used ALM systems due to demands from either CEO or heads of fund management divisions. The CEO support is one of the most critical success factors for developing an ALM system. Nowadays ALM systems used by most banks provide the following functions: analyzing tools for deposit and loan management, liquidity management, and interest rate risk management. Sixteen propositions were developed according to the structured interview results. These propositions are useful for banks to review their ALM systems and to determine whether or not to develop ALM systems. These propositions are also useful for academic to conduct further study.
