By the influence of government regulations, the money market institutions and change of the global economic environment, the operating environment of banks have confronted a difficult challenge. Bank executives have to face the inside and outside pressures from capital costs, interest profit decreasing, high risk credit; competition and change of the global economic environment. They can no longer make their decisions only based upon simple information and their basic instinct. Instead, they need more timely and correctly information to make better decisions. Information technologies (IT) play a major role in the area of banking Management. Making good use of IT has become one of the primary tasks of bank executives. The use of IT can increase service quality and competitive advantages. The purpose of this study is to gather first hand information of EIS from banking CIO. In accordance with the result of the in-depth structured face-to-face interviews, a total of sixteen propositions were proposed. These sixteen propositions can be used by CEOs of banks to review and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of current EIS in their banks. This study indicated that although banks had been considered one of theindustries to adopt IT widely, the results showed the fact that banks just started developing EIS. Besides, the content of information of EIS could not meet the level that is as rapid and correct as the requirements of executives'' needs. This is the reason why EIS failure. Due to the executives are not often to use computers, EIS do not have strong impacts in executives daily activities. However, the future CEO of banks are getting more familiar with IT and the more friendly of IT will surely use EIS more often. All the executives of information department of the twenty-four banks indicated that EIS was necessary in Taiwan banking industry today. This findings provide a sound future of EIS.
