Summary: | 碩士 === 淡江大學 === 俄羅斯研究所 === 84 === This thesis analyzes the motif, structure ,and personage of
"The Cherry Orch-ard ". The play may be briefly described as a
realistic ensemble pathos: thecharacters all suffer the passing
of the estate in different ways, thus adum-rating this change
at a deeper and more generally significant level than thatof
any individual''s suffering of the destined change of the cherry
orchard, is" to save the cherry orchard ". Each character sees
some value in it:economic,Tltural, and social. The play has no
dramatic plot, that is, the play has nosuch events as would
make it possible to develop or bring out the characters,or
disclose the phases of their " movement ". The fate of
characters with thebehaviors and actions, are motivated by common
everyday situations. The charac-ters are not merely defined by
their speeches: their appearance and behaviorsboth contribute
towards establishing their individuality and their
connectionswith each other.
