The quadrant analysis theory was applied to analyze the turbulentstress signals by partitioning the Reynolds stress into inward interaction, ejection, outward interaction, and sweep events in accordance with whicheverquadrant the (u',v') belongs to. It allows a better understanding on theemission of air-pollutants on the pedestrain-level between high- risebuildings. The result indicate that the flow characteristics around thebuildings generally change with a change of the distance ratio, and a regionof high pedestrain- level winds is observed extending from the upwind corner. The same results have been reported in previous studies with isolated building. The channeling effect of gap flow occurs at transverse spacings S/D < 2.0 inthree identical buildings placed in side-by-side arrangement. The shieldingprovided by the upwind building appears at spacings T/D < 3.0 in threeidentical buildings placed in the tandem arrangement. The outcome of Reynoldsstress show reveal the stress contributions by sweeps and ejections are almostthe same at transverse spacings S/D < 2.0 behind the buildings in side-by sidearrangement. In the other, a difference between the two occurs as thetransverse spacings increase. Po-Chien Lu 盧博堅 1996 學位論文 ; thesis 107 zh-TW
