The subjects of this study were 73 Parkinsonian patients,36 in the experimental group,and 37 in the contral group.A two- quasi-experimental design was used. All datas were collected by interviewing the patients.According to structural questionnair, which was designed by the researcher to evaluate the effect of health educational program. The interview was conducted before health education and after health education within 3 to 5 weeks. Major findings of this study the Parkinsonian patients tested did not have sufficient self-care knowledge.Their attitude towards the disease and their self-care tended to be neutral and their self care behaviors were not bad.The male patients had a more positive attitude towards the disease and better self-care than the female patients.The patients with no job,were in stage 1 and 2 of the Hoehn and Yahr''s stages,and had information about this disease had better self-care behavior.The patients with stage 3 or above had a poorer clinical status. The effects of patient education on the knowledge,attitude and behaviors regarding self-care improved significantly.The effect of patient education on the clinical status was the same for both group. After receiving the educational program, the patients who gained basic information from the doctors made more progress in knowledge.The patients who gained information from the nurses made more progress in attitude.The longer the treatment of the patients,the better their self-care behavior.
