The main purpose ofthis research was investigated the resource partitioning among sympatric frogsof two communities in streams. We also monitored the species and populationsuccession in each community. During the research period, we discovered twelve species of frog, including Bufo bankorensis, Buergeria robustus, Buergeria japonicus, Chirixalus diootocus, idiootocus, Rhachophorus taipeianus, Rana kuhlii, Rana sauteri, Rana narinaswinhoana, Rana latouchi, Rana limnocharis, Rana adenopleura and Rana guentheri. The bed rocks, canopy coverage and other environmental factors will affect thespecies composition of the community. Frogs in streams can be separated intotwo groups, i. e., lotic group and terrestrial one, base on their habitatpreferences. Results of niche breath and niche overlap showed that Buergeriarobustus in the downstream site of Jin-Gua- Liao creek has the widest niche of habitat usage (0.4). Bufo bankorensis in the upstream of Jin-Gua-Liao creek has the widest niche in temporal aspect (0.45). Buergeria robustus in theJin-Gua-Liao creek has the widest niche on food (0.24). The greatest nicheoverlap was seen between Rana latouchi and Rana adenopleura of Ha-Pan stream in habitat usage (0.95). Bufo bankorensis and Rana narina swinhoana has thegreatest niche overlap in temporal aspect (0.84). The greatest niche overlap was seen between Rana sauteri and Buergeria robustus of Jin- Gua-Liao creek in diet (0.87). The data showed that the species of frogs in the stream varies with seasons. Buergeria robustus primarily appeared in spring and summer. Bufo bankorensis and Rana sauteri were rarely seen in steams during the winter. LUE KUANG-YANG 呂光洋 1996 學位論文 ; thesis 64 zh-TW
