Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 資訊工程研究所 === 84 === Great efforts are being made to develop flexible and high speed transmission networks from a diverse range of services requirements. ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) has been shown to meet those requirements. In ATM network, VP(Virtual Path) is used in realizing multiplexing, resource management, and routing. VC(Virtual Channel) is used for connection from source application to destination application. Multiple VCs can be in a common VP if this VP satisfies each VC''s transmission requirement. An efficient and scalable VP layout method is proposed. We use weighted networks and group concepts to develop our method. It is expected that any two end users can communicate through a small constant number of VPs. But this may cause too many VP layouts, which is a problem for fixed routing table size in switches between these two. Thus, we must have a trade-off !In this paper, a method called P-VPL is designed to let us layout VPs according to the trade-off requirement. Because weighted network concepts are used, our VP layout can reflect real conditions closely. In our simulation test, under unbalanced node loads, our VP layout method has a better performance than others because of introduction of weighted concepts.
