This is a cross-sectional descriptive and correlational research. 86 hemodialysis patients were recruited from four hemodialysis centers in Taipei. The test instruments used in the study were used in the study were "Quality of Life Index "、"Physical Symp- Distress Checklist" and "Social Support Scale". The major find- ings of this study were as following: 1.Generally speaking, hemodialysis patients had medium life quali- ty. The mean score on the family subscale was the highest,psy- chosocial subscale was the lowest. 2.Hemodialysis patients had low level symptom distress. The grea- test symptom distress was fatigue. 3.In the social support resources aspect, the score of family and friend was equal to the health profession. In the social supp- ort function aspect, the highest score was emotional support, the least was tangible support. 4.Among the demographic factors, hemodialysis patients''marital status was significant differance on life quality. No differance was found among the factors related to patients'' sex、age、edu- cational level and work status. 5.No significant difference on life quality was found among cha- racteristics of disease. 6.Physical symptom distress was negatively correlated with life quality. 7.Social support was positively correlated with life quality. 8.Patients''life quality could be predicted by their marital status、physical symptom distress and social support. The total variance was 40.35%.The most predictional factor was social support. 9.Between independent variables had no interaction on life quality. Miss Ku 顧乃平 1996 學位論文 ; thesis 86 zh-TW
