Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 應用地質研究所 === 84 === In this study, we performed image interpretation, geomorphic analysis and fracture survey in the volcanic rocks that cover the Chinshan fault, so as to interpret the sense of movement of the underlying fault. In the same time, a physical model study, which simulates the field condition of brittle rock underlying by a fault, was made so that the interpretation can be assisted by modeling results. The result from the image interpretation and geomorphic analysis show that the Tatun volcanic areas on two sides of the Chinshan fault are very difference in geomorphic feature. This difference may be affected by recent movement of the Chinshan fault. Field data show that outcrop of the Chinshan fault and a clear lineament are out of location. Fault outcrops locate on northeast of the lineament. It is clear that the lineament can not exactly be the fault line of the Chinshan fault. So, we call it "Huang-Chi Lineament" in this study. The lineament may be!a recent normal fault which form after structure inversion of the Chinshan fault. The result from the fracture survey shows that two sides of the Chinshan fault are also exhibiting different fracture pattern. In southeast side of the Huang-Chi Lineament, there are enechelon faults oblique to strike of the Chinshan fault, and there also exist two joint sets, one set is parallel to the Chinshan fault and the other set is parallel to the enechelon fault. The result from the physical model (sandbox model) shows that the fracture system of the Tatun volcanic area may be interpreted by the left-handed normal-slip of the underlying fault. The physical model also shows that "Chilian Lineament" may be an antithectic fault associate with normal faulting.
