In this thesis, we develop an efficient Kalman equalizer that can overcome this problem. We first formulate the problem of equalization in the state-space domain. Then, we derive a closed form solution for the steady-state Kalman gain. Finally, this Kalman gain is used in the filte- ring proocess. Thus, the Kalman filtering does not requires any matrix operations and a tremendous reduction in computation is obtained. Simula- tion results demonstrate that our approach is superior to conventioal me- thods not only in computational complexities but also in equalized results.
