Based on the concept of the adjoint system,we also develop a general computation procedure (the backpropagation method)to calculate the quantum uncertainties of the inner product between any givenfunction and the (perturbed) field operator. The investigation includesthe study of the impacts of the self-Raman effect and third-order disperdionon pulsed-squeezed state generation using optical fibers and the quantum-nondemolition measurement of the photon number using soliton collisions in optical fibers.
