Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 工業工程研究所 === 84 === The purpose of this research is to develop a quantitative approach to determine the common pallet size for distribution systems. Transportation, material handling and storage systems that associated to the pallet operation are the decision factors. The pallet size would depend on the length and width of carriers of transportation system such as cargo trucks, cars, carriers, or the containers. For the material handling system, the relationship between the loading center of lift trucks and pallet size is defined. How the aisle width and storage steel rack specifications would affect the decision of pallet size also considered. A systematic decision process is developed and the multiple attribute decision making method is applied in the procedure.
