Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 環境工程學系 === 84 === Due to poor ventilation, the air polluants in semi-closed
garages are frequently accumulated during working hours, causing
deteroration in the indoor air. Since some polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbons (PAHs) found in the automobile exhaust are known to
be highly carcinogenic or mutagenic, their concentrations and
particle size distributions in the indoor and outdoor air at
garages are of great concern. In this study two automobile
garages were chosen, their indoor and outdoor air were sampled
simultaneously by two PS-1 samplers and amultiple-orifice
uniform deposite impacter (MOUDI). The samples were
Soxhletextracted and analyzed by aan HP-5890 GC/FID for 16PAHs.
The results show thatboth the total suspended particulate and
the total-PAHs inthe indoor air weredistinctly higher than the
values at their surrounding. Inside both garages, the total-PAHs
and the toxic PAHs on the fine particles (d<2.5um) and the
TSPwere all higher than the outdoor values. On fine particles
inside the garagesthe toxic PAHs were 44% higher than the
outdoor values. TSP inside was only 9%above the outside air.
Both patterns of particle size distribution inside andoutside
air was polluted by PAHs diffused out from within the garages,
Insidethe garages the mass median diameters (MMD) were smaller
than 3um, meaning that PAHs resided on fine suspended particles.
