The covered frequency bands are 0.1MHz~1.3GHz and 1.3GHz~2.6 GHz. The desired specific includes 27 dBm 1dB com- pression point, more than 27 dB gain, and low VSWR. The design metrology of a broadband power amplifier dep- ends on the frequency range, bandwidth, output power, and in/out VSWR. For the 0.1MHz~1.3GHz power amplifier, the fee- dback and lossy matching method are used for broadband design. The balanced amplifier and the reactively matched amplifier structures are adopted for the design of the 1.3GHz~2.6GHz power amplifier. The power amplifier has three stages: amplify, driver, and power-output. The active bias circuits are used for the DC design to achieve stable DC-bias points. In the design procedure, at first the circuits with ideal (L,C) lumped elements are simulated and analyzed to achieve the desired performance. Then, the ideal lumped elements are replaced by the modeled lumped elements for the successive simulation. Fine tuning processes of the value of the lumped elements are performed in the simulation to achieve the desired characteristics as the ideal-element results.
