Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 航空太空工程學系 === 84 === Auxetic foam is a new material which exhibits a negative Poisson's Ratio. It gets fatter when stretched and thinner when compressed. This novel propertyresults from its re-entrant cell shape. Auxetic foam has been fabricated by heating and compressing to force the cell rib into permanent buckle and deformation, and then the cells were converted from convex shape to re-entrantshape. The Poisson's ratio is such a fundamentally important property of a material that a negative Poisson's ratio will significantly affect the material's mechanical performance. A method of fabricating rigid auxetic foamswas developed. The microstructures, material properties, and deformation underloading of conventional foam and auxetic foam were compared by experiments. It was shown that auxetic foams have higher ultimate strength and energy absorption. Therefore, auxetic foams will be nice core materials which can enhance the impact resistance of sandwich plate.
