papers, cosmetics, foods... etc, and they are also
used as laser dyes. It is worthy to develop and study new laser
dyes. In this study, we tried to measure the properties
of absorption spectrum and fluorescence spectrum of known
organic compounds and new synthesized xanthene derivatives,
TIHF、 3,6-dihydroxyxanthane、TIHF-OK、
TIHF-OAc、TBHF-OK and TBHF-OAc. Furthermore, we
also measured the laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) of
3,6-dihydroxyxanthane TBHF、TIHF-OK and TBHF-OK by using Nd-YAG
laser as excitation source.
The properties of absorption and fluorescence spectra of
xanthene dye derivatives will change with different
solvents. The structure of dye compounds in H2SO4-
DMSO (1:1) solution above 0.1 N concentration is changed.
Besides, the fluorescence properties of derivatives disappear in
two solvents disappear. one solvent is 2N H2SO4-DMSO (1:1).
The other solvent is 0.5 N NaOH-DMSO (1:1).
The experimental results from the synthesis of xanthene dye
derivative, TIHF-OK、TBHF-OK、3,6-dihydroxyxanthene and
TIHF, suggest that these derivatives are not so good
as laser dyes due to lack of significant fluorescence
properties.
