Frame Relay is a recently introduced service that represents an evolution compared to the traditional packet switching communication specified in the X.25 standards. Frame Relay is a protocol operating in the low sublayer of the data layer in the OSI reference model. It is a subset of CCITT recommendation Q.921 (LAPD) called the "core aspects". Frame Relay protocol is divided into two layers : physical layer and data link layer. The physical layer provides the physical signaling and connections between the user equipment and the network. The data link layer manages the data flow, addressing, routing and error checking between the user equipment and the network. The Frame Relay interworking system is implemented by an embedded microprocessor, the Motorola MC68302. It provides major elements of flexibility with various serial channels and the interface on-chip M68000 core processor. In this thesis the FR IWU hardware is implemented, driver module and LAPD module software are ported on the FR IWU. More work is required to implemented the LAN interface to complement the interworking operation between the LAN and the WAN. Wu Kou-Tan 吳國棟 1996 學位論文 ; thesis 66 zh-TW
