Summary: | 碩士 === 淡江大學 === 國際事務與戰略研究所 === 83 === In this thesis, the author through a historical review,
discusses the various collective security systems ever applied
to (or advocated by) Asian-Pacific countries and also analyzes
the reasons behind their success or failure. By doing so, the
author aims to find out a kind of regional security mechanism
best suited for present-day Asian-Pacific countries in their
pursuit of longstanding political and economic stability. In
terms of methodology, "historical study" is adopted in this in
which the time period for related discussions is from 1924-95.
Readers will also find that the author has applied some basic
theories regarding "collective security" and has referred to
the past experiences of European and American countries in
establishing regional security system. But the major emphasis
is laid on an in-depth examination of the recent development of
Asian-Pacific security system during the Post-Cold War period.
