Description
Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 國際事務與戰略研究所 === 83 === In order to increase the competitiveness of European industries in the international market, European Communties(EC) turned to its common research and development(R&D) vigorously from 1980s. The theme of this thesis is mainly to study the science and technology(S&T) policy and the S&T product trade of EC, especially the trade of S&T product between EC and Taiwan. Main findings can be summarized as follows: First, while EC has a common research and development policy, each member country has her own science and technology policy. The common research and development policy puts more emphasis on informa- tion, communication, energy and materials industries, which on the core of Framework Programme. Each member's S&T policy reflects its national interests and economic cooperative advantage. Second, as far as the S&T product trade concerned, 60% of this trade is conducted within EC's member countries. The major items of S&T product trade in EC are: other transport equipment, medical and pharmaceutical product and metal working machinery. Although the statistics shows that in 1980s and early 1990s the S&T product trade between Taiwan and EC is not significant, there is a great potential for S&T product trade to develop in the future.
