碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 管理科學研究所 === 83 === From the academic and pragmatic points of view, waiting islways a major issue of concern for many scholars and entrepre-eurs. Current studies emphasize queuing theory and waitingsychology and neglect the reasons or basic causes responsibleor the waiting phenomenon. This makes the results of thenalyses ineffective in solving the problems. After summarizing the published literature and observinghe actual waiting phenomenon, we classify the waiting phenon-enon, and analyze the latent basic reasons through the perspec-ives of flow, bottlencek, balance and matching in order todvance the understanding of the nature of waiting. The latenteaning and influence of waiting psychology, technology, andupply and demand were studied, and the waiting system was rede-ined. On the basis of this analyses, a better arrangement wasesigned for application and flexible control measures asupplemental tools for the execution of the arrangement. The major contributions of this paper were to clarify theature of waiting, the designs of arrangement, and the flexibleontrol measures. The results of this study have broader appli-ations to managements of waiting system, and offer an integralramework and models to refer to in practice.
