Human resource planning (HRP)for large firms is a complex problem. The problem domain is often unstructured, requiring a significant amount of computational resources. The enormous profits and savings that can be made by making a decision support system (DSS)to assist managers.
At present,the application of object-oriented analysis (00A) and programming (00P)in the software engineering is a popular trend. The purpose of this paper is to apply the object-oriented concept to the construction of an integrated DSS for HRP.Because of 00P's intuitive style,it not only enhances software productivity and maintenance,but also enables rapid prototyping and allows for a high degree of code sharing.
The framework, constructs and methods discussed are flexible enough to be applied to a wide variety of decision-making and problem-solving paradigms. The prototype system has been developed and implemented within the IBM PC environment and windows 3.1. The most important benefit from using 00P is that the problem domain is viewed in the same way throughout the system development.The prototype of this paper would be a template for firms implementing a DSS in HRP.
