First, a preliminary feasibility study on adopting precast panel is conducted. Rules of thumb are given based on cost and important factor analyses. Numerical examples with cost imformation from industry survey indicate the cost difference in adopting cast-in-site panel, concrete precast panel, and lightweight concrete precast panel. Secondly, screening flowcharts for selecting types and details of precast panel connections are established. Thirdly, the relevant code provisions in designing, manufacturing, and assembling precast panel connections are collected and analyzed. Proposed code provisions are expected to be complete, reliable, and consistent with current codes and industry practice. Fourthly, a complete design for actual struvture is done, including the design for primary structure and panel connections. Finally, the current code reliabilities of panel connections and joints are evaluated. New design equations with reasonable reliabilities are also proposed.
