In PC486DX2-66 VESA Local Bus, the video frame grabber converts the video image signal from CCD Camera into digital video image data. Then, through Motion Estimation Processor, Discrete Cosine Transform Processor and Software Coding, the system can real-time compress and code the digital video image data into MPEG-I video file. Finally, storing the file into hard disk. When picturing a quiet scene, quantizer scale setting as 31, six P Picture behind one I Picture, this system currently can record 23 picture (128*96 size, 256 gray level image) per second. The compression ratio is about 114:1 among which I Picture is about 32 times and P Picture is about 197 times. When either the nature of picture or the setting of system parameter changed, the compression ratio and the picture rate will be different.
