In this study, the product of activated carbon fabrics (ACFs ) is prepared by using Polynosic Rayon fabric as precursor. The raw material was soaked with the aqueous solution of flame-retarding agents {[Diammoinum sulfate / ammonium sulfate], [ Zinc Chloride/ Aluminum Chloride/ Ammonium Chloride]}, followed by continuous manufacture of oxidation in air. Then the falmeproof of fabric followed by continuous manufacture of carbonization and activation process in the furnace. In this experiment, the research is the effects of physical properties for activated carbon fabric on a continuous process using various mixture reagent and the speed of activation. Furthermore, the objected of the investigation is to choose te ACFs of BET specific surface area over 1000m2/g and treated wity various concentration of sulturic acid solution. This is a test to estimate the adsorption capacity of activated carbon fabrics for ammonia gas purpose.
The experiment result show that the tensile strength and weight yield of the product by using [ Diammoinum sulfate /ammonium sulfate ] as flame-retarding agent is better than others. The porosity properties of the product by using [ Zine Chloride/Aluminum Chloride / Ammonium Chloride ] as flame-retarding agent is better than others, The tensile strength and BET specific surface area of ACFs decreased with the speed of activation.
The effects of the adsorption capacity for NH3 of ACFs pretreated with H2SO4 treatments was shown that the amount of NH3 adsorbed increased with the concentrated of sulfuric solution. The improvement in catalytic activity of ACFs could be attributed to the formation of acidic oxygen functional groups on the activated carbon fabrics surface which enhanced the adsorption of NH3.
