Because contaminants are transported by runoff to surface waters, hydrologic processes are often at the core of water quality and quantity concerns. NPS models consist of hydrologic models and water quality models in hydrological process .In recent years , distributed models replace lumped model, because all the effect spatially variable data may be calculated and analysed throught the watershed or hydrologic unit , therefore ,accurate modeling results can be obtained. However ,the large amount of data need to be compiled and analysed for the distributed model resulting in the model''s capability exceeding data availablity. The intergration of the spatial data handling capabilities of a GIS with a distributed NPS model offers the advantages associated with utilizing the full information content of the spatially distributed data to analyse the process . In this reserch ,GIS technology provides powerful capabilities for manipulating both input and output parameters required by VAST model in the Bashi creek study area.
