Summary: | 碩士 === 國立師範大學 === 體育學系 === 83 === The purpose of this study was to reveal the interrela-
tionship between swim coaches'''''''' leadership and swimmers'''''''' per-
formance as well as satisfaction in Taiwan. Three hundred
and ten swimmers, who are over 13 years old and study at
junior high schools, senior high schools, and colleges, served
as the subjects of the study. The Chinese version of Chella-
durai''''''''s (1994) LSS was adopted in the questionnaires. Simple
correlation, one-way MANOVA, one-way ANOVA, and stepwise
regression were used to analyze the data. Within the scope
of this study, the following conclusion were derived:
1. "Coaches'''''''' behavior" preferred by the swimmers are signi-
ficantly related to the swimmers'''''''' perception (except "auto-
cratic behavior") .
2. Coaches'''''''' "democratic behavior" and "autocratic behavior"
are preferred by male swimmers. For those swimmers who are
male, younger, study at junior high schools, or be trained
within a short term program, they perceive coaches'''''''' "train-
ing and instruction" behavior more.
3. For those swimmers who are younger or study at junior high
schools, they are more satisfied with the team performance,
while those who are male, younger, study at junior high
schools, or be trained within a short term program were more
satisfied with the coaches'''''''' leadership.
4. In coaches'''''''' leadership behavior, "rewarding behavior" can
predict the self performance''''''''s satisfaction of swimmers;
"social support " can predict the team performance''''''''s satis-
faction of swimmers; "training and instruction", "autocratic
behavior", and "democratic behavior" can validly predict the
performance of the swimmers.
According to this study, the swim coaches in Taiwan intend
to promote swimmer''''''''s performance and satisfaction, they have to
strengthen "training and instruction" behavior.
