It was reported that the chaos exist in the phase-locked loop(PLL). In this thesis , we use a second-order lowpass filter to implement the loop filter of the PLL. Hence, we can check this third-order PLL to see if the chaos exists both by theoretical analysis and experimental verification. For the theoretical part, we use the Melnikov method to ana- lyze the existence of chaos. In order to verify it experiment- ally, a real circuit is designed.
