碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 物理研究所 === 83 === In the study of deciding the shape of a steady flow,we introduce a function of energy which is varied with the free surface to give the condition of dynamical equili- brium. To assure its plausiblity, a fundamental equat- ion has been derived to determine the shape of a thin falling water stream impinging upon a plane, and shown in good agreement with the experimental observation. This alternatively gives the possibility of another p- oint of view in treating the steady flows as ensembles in their dynamic equilibrium states.
