In a video server with multipleideo programs to be serviced simultaneously, how to design aigh throughput system is the main issue of this paper. The dataetrieval operation is often the bottleneck of a video server, son efficient data distribution scheme is the key point to beddressed. Our system uses disk array as the storage subsystem, so itust connect mutiple disks to a common bus, that usually causesus contention while transferring the data, and hence reducehe throughput of video server, therefore an algorithm foresolving bus contention will be proposed. At last, we compare the performance among multiplendependent disks, redundant array of independent disks, andingle large disk that includes the busy rate analysis ofystem resource for a video server system.
