| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 醫學工程研究所 === 83 === The current development of gait analysis and its increasing application to the pathological gait in children has created an urgent need for normative data.
However the research on maturation of gait in children were just in the beginning in Taiwan. In order to care for the welfare of child, more data and knowledge on the field are mandatory. It is the first goal of our study to offer some background data and basic studies to any other researchers who are interested in the topic.
In the research motion analysis and force plate system were uaed to observe and analyze the problems of lower limbs. There are 23 children of 5 years old in average who participated the program. The gait data of them provide us with the normal gait pattern of the same age group.
It is the second goal of our study to realize the corresponding factors to gait parameters. Since the age was controlled, body weight, height, angular deformities ( genu varum and valgum ), and torsional deformities (toe in and out were considered and correlated. Under statistical analysis, the following results were observed:
(1) body height and weight are both corresponding factors to gait development.
(2) the gait data between boys and girls of 5 years old are similar,
(3) children with genu valgum tend to gain more gait stability by using compensatory mechanism.
