Geographic information system (GIS) have been used extensively to assist in the analysis of route choice. Cognitive science is a reasearch area which includes the study of the reception , storage, retrieval , translation and exchange information by human beings. So far, The often-used GIS route choice model has not incorporated concepts from cognitive science. Therefore the result of route choice often doesn''t match. This research based on employing concepts of human spat- ial cognition for the improvement of the route choice performa- nce of hierarchical road networks. By incorporating human spat- ial cognition into the analytical capability of GIS , it is hop- ed that not only will the GIS rapidly and correctly yield analy- sis matching human spatial behavior of route choice , but also overcome the obstacle of slow access to a huge database. Finally, employing the technology of hierarchical network to analyze spatial data for route choice can yield results which are much more human-like than by only selecting all the availab- le road networks. It is also proved that using hierarchical road network can reduce the quantity of data need to be processed and improve GIS performance as well. Jung-Hong Hong 洪榮宏 1995 學位論文 ; thesis 84 zh-TW
