The positioning technique plays a major role in ground navigation system. So, the integration of different positioning methods, such as Global Positioning System (GPS), Dead Reckoning (DR), etc., turns out to be of great importance. A core processor in managing, monitoring, and controlling these positioning methods may require the involvement of human knowledge. Expert System is one of the new techniques that implements the human experiences. This research focuses on the application of Expert System to the ground navigation. The developed system is applied to a ground system with GPS and DR equipped in a car. The basic strategy is the DR-aided DGPS (Differential GPS) navigation. The result clearly shows that Expert System is capable of detecting error measurements from sensors, monitoring the status of subsystems, switching between subsystems to be main navigation output, adjusting the scaling factors in DR subsystem, and improving the navigation accuracy.
