Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 語言學研究所 === 83 ===   The present thesis is an attempt to investigate the sex and age related differences is the use of insulting words. The study is carried out on 600 Chinese students in Taipei. They are divided into three age groups--13-15, 16-18, and 19-25. Male and female subjects are equally distributed in each age group. They are asked to complete questionnaires. The questionnaires are disigned for different sexes and ages to choose which insulting words they would use when insulting people. The results show that the differences are significant. It means different sexes and ages will affect the use of insulting words. The results also show some changes in sex role. The sex role change is the process of social change. Therefore, the results can reflect the changing society.
