Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 紡織工程研究所 === 83 === Recently, the anti-microbial finishes on the cotton fabrics has been known and accepted extensively. Particularly, the reactive-antimicrobial finishes is the most attactive.
In this experiment, we synthesized three type of PU polymer; type A (The molecular weight of PTMG is equal to 2000), type B (The molecular weight of PTHG is equal to 1000), type C (The molecular weight of PTMG is equal to 650). Firstly, the PU prepolymers were prepared by reaction of PTMG with MDI and extended with DETA (or DETA/Hydrazine mixture) to form PU polymer. The polymer was then grafted with epichlorohpdrin and reacted with different amounts of biocide(QAS) to form PU with covalent bond of quaternary ammonium salts. The biocidal properties of the PU film were evaluated by the Agar plate method and by the Shake flask method. From the experimental results, it demonstrated that these films and finished fabrics exhibited a high biocidal activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The biocidal activity were found to be increased with the increase of the amount of QAS. After rinsing with water, the biocidal activity of these PU films and finished fabrics was found to remain their biocidal characteristics.
From FR spectrum, PU films with covalent bond of QAS showed an absorption peak at 2300 cm-1, which corresponded to the absorption of silicon in QAS. For the mechanical properties, it was found that the PU films with QAS sustained their mechanical properties in spite of the increase of graft amount of QAS.
